What If Money Isn’t the Problem?

And what if trying to fix your money mindset is actually missing the point?

You’ve done the work. The affirmations. The strategy. The deep breaths before you raise your prices.

And still, something feels… off.

You want to believe it's safe to receive. That overflow is available. That money isn’t just for the loud, the flashy, or the ones who never had to unpack guilt around getting paid to be themselves.

But deep down, a different voice whispers:  “Are you really allowed to have that?”  “What if they can't afford it?”  “Shouldn’t you just be grateful for what you already have?” "I'm content with just having enough."

This isn’t about spreadsheets or sales funnels. This is about the part of you that learned, somewhere along the way, that receiving is risky.

Let’s talk about it.

The Lie We Inherited About Receiving

If you grew up in a high-control environment, whether it was religion, patriarchy, or just “how we do things in this family”, you were likely taught that needing less made you good (aka. less likely to get in trouble). That sacrifice made you worthy.

You weren’t taught to receive. You were taught to earn it.

So you became self-sufficient. Low-maintenance. The one who doesn’t ask for much.

And then you started a business. A business that requires you to receive.

See the glitch?

You're trying to build a sustainable income on top of a nervous system that flinches at the idea of being “too much,” “too expensive,” or simply… visible.

This isn’t a mindset problem. It’s an emotional survival pattern.

Why Receiving Can Feel Unsafe, Even When You Crave It

Money isn’t neutral. Not in your body.

It’s tied to visibility. Desirability. Value. Power. And if your safety used to depend on being small, silent, or agreeable, receiving more can feel like inviting danger.

Receiving means:

  • You might be judged.

  • You might be rejected.

  • You might finally have to stop proving and start trusting yourself.

And that’s terrifying if you’ve never had emotional safety modeled for you.

The Nervous System Knows

You can rewrite your money story all day long. But if your body still believes receiving equals exposure, it will protect you, even from the good things.

This shows up as:

  • Discounting your offers before anyone even asks.

  • Avoiding follow-ups because you don’t want to seem pushy.

  • Feeling anxious after a big sale or win, like the other shoe is about to drop.

It’s not self-sabotage. It’s your nervous system doing its job.

That’s why the real work isn’t in your strategy. It’s in your capacity.

Expanding Your Capacity to Receive (Without Collapsing or Performing)

Here’s the truth: You can’t outwork a nervous system that doesn’t feel safe.

But you can rewire your relationship to receiving, not by forcing it, but by meeting it directly. Honestly. With eyes open.

Start by asking:

  • What parts of me believe receiving is dangerous?

  • Where did I learn that wanting more makes me selfish or ungrateful?

  • What version of me gets activated when I receive attention, money, or care?

These aren’t mindset questions. They’re invitations back into your body.

Because when you slow down enough to listen, you’ll hear the part of you that’s not afraid of money; she’s afraid of what receiving it might mean.

Money Is Not the Final Goal

Money isn’t the goal. It’s the catalyst. The amplifier. The thing that brings to the surface whatever's already true about how you relate to value, power, and receiving.

It’s just the resource that lets you rest more. Say yes more. Live softer. Stretch further.

When you have the capacity to receive it without fear or guilt, everything else shifts.

You speak with more clarity. You sell without chasing. You lead without abandoning yourself.

And the best part? You stop bracing for impact when things go well.
